Safe and Sound

Deidre is a hardworking line cook at a local restaurant chain. While her huge heart and excellent attitude masked the abusive situation at home for a while, her manager realized she needed help when she brought her three kids to work one night. She had just left her spouse after a very heated altercation. After that shift, she ended up seeking shelter in a hotel. When we first met Deidre, she only had the clothes on her back, her precious kids, and an empty apartment. She had spent every waking moment frantically looking for this apartment and every dime she had to cover the security deposit. Big Table stepped in to help complete her first month‘s rental payment and provide gift cards for groceries, home necessities, and clothing basics to fill in the gaps. We took her to a local boutique to buy a few outfits and some new shoes. She had been wearing her uncomfortable, non-slip work shoes everywhere. She was so excited she wore the new shoes out of the store! Deidre is now walking confidently into a much brighter future.
